Weather Can’t Stop the Show – Geraldton Sunshine Festival

“You guys delivered again! The weather had a major impact on your plans and routines, but being the legends you are, you still put on some awesome displays!”

Freestyle Now returned once again to the Geraldton Sunshine Festival to perform BMX stunt show marking our fourth year at this great community event. It’s always good to have repeat events like the Sunshine Festival as it shows the value and trust placed in Freestyle Now as an entertainment provider. The festival location right next to the beach is always a fantastic setting for BMX shows, even if the weather doesn’t always cooperate.

This year the wind and rain made things challenging, with gusts reaching around 50km/h at times. With the airbag lander unable to be used safely, the Freestyle Now squad adapted quickly and switched to a quarterpipe and flatland performance setup. Even with the difficult conditions the riders kept the shows flowing and the crowds entertained, proving that BMX entertainment can still continue even when the weather tries to slow things down.

Clockwise from top left – Sam Grace holding that foot jam whip on the ramp while the 50 km/h winds blast him. – With the wind gusts too high to set up the airbag lander, we opted to run with just the quarterpipe take-off ramp for the show setup, Luke Tooze sending in full whip mode. – Sam hopping over Shaun drew a great response from the crowd. – Shaun Jarvis diversifying his riding to make the tricks happen, no matter the conditions or the surface. – More photos can be found on our facebook page here.

The Freestyle Now crew for the Geraldton Sunshine Festival included Shaun Jarvis, Luke Tooze, Sam Grace, and Andrew Ahumada. Shaun showcased his technical flatland skills while also keeping the energy high on the microphone. Luke and Andrew powered through the windy conditions on the quarterpipe with consistent, stylish tricks, and Sam—true to form—still managed to send some huge moves in between each burst of wind.

The festival organisers summed it up: “You guys delivered again! The weather had a major impact on your plans and routines, but being the legends you are, you still put on some awesome displays!”

It was another successful year at the Geraldton Sunshine Festival and Freestyle Now is always grateful to return and be part of this long-running event.
