Freestyle Now Brings Epic BMX Stunt Shows to Groundswell Festival 2025

Freestyle Now was back at the Groundswell Festival bringing the BMX energy, the big tricks, and the kind of show that keeps crowds locked in from start to finish. Groundswell always delivers an unreal atmosphere, and once again it proved to be the perfect place for Freestyle Now to roll out the rad with a full-scale BMX stunt show program. The BMX stunt show team for Groundswell Festival featured Shaun Jarvis, Luke Tooze, Andrew Ahumada, Sam Grace and Roman Depiazzi. With Shaun on the mic and also throwing down stunts on the bike, the crowd was kept engaged the whole way through. Shaun’s ability to connect the riding to the audience is what turns a BMX show into a full entertainment experience, and Groundswell was no exception.

Sam Grace gets it done for the crowd while Shaun Jarvis has nerves of steel.

Sam Grace came into the shows already fired up after taking the win in the Groundswell BMX Bowl Battle the day before. That momentum carried straight into the stunt shows, with Sam doing what he does best, going huge and making elite-level BMX tricks look effortless. The bigger the moment, the bigger Sam rides, and Groundswell crowds got to witness the kind of riding that makes people stop in their tracks from across the festival. Luke Tooze was in full flight mode all weekend, delivering the kind of dialled trick selection that makes him one of Perth’s most reliable and exciting BMX show riders. The Groundswell crowd energy clearly hit different too, because Luke stepped it up in a big way, throwing down a double backflip for the first time in four years. That moment was a perfect example of what happens when the crowd gets loud and the riders get even louder. Andrew Ahumada brought his trademark power and technical riding to the ramp, mixing big tricks with clean execution and keeping the level high in every performance. Andrew also dropped a double backflip of his own, adding to the “anything can happen” feeling that ran through the shows. The riders were feeding off each other, pushing the level higher every run, and the crowd was right there with them. It was also awesome to have Roman Depiazzi in the lineup, bringing youthful energy and a fresh spark to the show team. Roman delivered one of the standout moments of the weekend with a jump-to-bounce front flip, a trick that had the crowd losing it and the riders hyping him up instantly. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Freestyle Now show without Shaun laying down some flatland BMX freestyle as well. Shaun mixed the MC duties with flatland tricks, and even got jumped over while still on his bike, always a crowd favourite and one of those classic stunt show moments that makes Groundswell shows so fun to watch.

What made this Groundswell Festival BMX stunt shows so special was how much the crowd involvement directly shaped the riding. The louder the cheers got, the more the riders stepped up, and it turned into a perfect mix of performance and friendly competition, the riders pushing each other, the crowd pushing the riders, and the whole festival area buzzing because of it. A huge thank you to the Groundswell Festival team for having Freestyle Now back again.
