Fremantle Skatepark Competition 2026 – Progress, Stoke, and High-Energy Action
The Fremantle Skatepark Competition rolled on despite a soggy start, with rain forcing a pause and a quick dry before action resumed. Freestyle Now knows how to roll with the punches, and riders were ready to give it their all once the park was prepped. It was a busy, action-packed day, with heaps of energy from every corner of the park. BMX numbers were strong, beginner divisions were stacked, and scooter riders were showing impressive steps in progression. Families, friends, and local supporters brought the vibes, cheering every landing and celebrating each rider’s effort.

Jacob Roughton took the win in the open class at the Fremantle skatepark competition. He rode with consistency, power and did some super rad turndowns like this one. Jacob is on the up and up, expect his radness to increase over the next year.
Scooter riders lit up the park with energy and creativity. Beginner Alex Dall rode smooth and controlled to take the win, while Kayden Vannasopa Page and James Crichton, now a familiar face at comps, threw down solid runs and kept the stoke high. Intermediate was a show of skill and progression: Reif Holmes absolutely blew it out of the water and will be stepping up to open next time, Cruz West displayed dialled, confident lines, and Spencer Park’s runs reflected his consistent growth and dedication over the past six months. Open saw Flynn Read continuing his step up from Midvale, landing big tricks and flowing through the park with precision, while Brandon Black, a regular competitor, showcased fearless riding and smooth execution, proving why he’s a staple in the WA scooter scene.
BMX brought the power, commitment, and progression the crowd loves. Beginners saw Garnet Rock absolutely throw it down, sending multiple tricks and giving it his all, while Oliver Cuffe-Cain laid down consistent, confident lines to claim the win. Jack Mercer rounded out the podium with strong, technical riding. Young Emily Boorer, only six years old, got her turns in and impressed everyone with her fearless approach. It’s fantastic to see new riders stepping into the freestyle BMX scene with so much stoke. Intermediate was a battle of flow and precision: Essian Jannet took the win with clean, dialled runs, Drew Hancey was right on his heels, and Will Deal delivered smooth, impressive tricks. Open was intense – Jacob Roughton, WA’s up-and-comer fresh off his first-place finish at the BMX State Championships and heading to nationals, dominated with style and power. Joel Weller, an Albany local, tore up a park he’s unfamiliar with and left everyone stoked, while Liam Rhodes continued to impress with his tenacious riding and constant progression.
From start to finish, the Fremantle Skatepark Competition delivered progression, stoke, and excitement. Riders threw big tricks, pushed their limits, and supported each other, while the crowd soaked in every moment of the high-energy action. It was a reminder that WA BMX and scooter communities are alive, committed, and full of talent.
Clockwise from top left – Albany was well represented at Fremantle competition, the scene there is building and Joel Weller is at the front of it, big flair on his way to second. – Reif Holmes throwing down this inward out of the euro to capture first place in the intermediate scooter division. – Garnet Rock getting them hands off in his last beginner competition, moving up to intermediates is the way progression works, good to see, – Flynn Reid throwing it down in the bowl on his way to winning the scooter open class. – Moe photos can be found on our Facebook page here
