Riders Raise the Bar at Bibra Lake BMX & Scooter Competition

Bibra Lake Skatepark delivered once again, with great weather setting the tone for a solid day of competition. Thanks again to the City of Cockburn, their support always makes a big difference and keeps these competitions rolling. The park was buzzing all day, riders were keen, and the vibe stayed high from the first drop-in to the final runs.

The scooter divisions were stacked and competitive across the board. In the Beginner division, Adam Owen took the win, with Raidan Hyde close behind in second and Zane Morey rounding out the podium in third. Zane earned plenty of respect after losing a shoe mid-run and still refusing to slow down, keeping the run alive and throwing a whip out of the whale tail like nothing happened. The Intermediate division was tight, with Hudson McDiven taking first, Josh Atkinson in second, and Geordie Parsons in third, all three riders showing consistency and control. The Open scooter division was a standout, and it was great to see Jacob Flavelle back on deck. Jacob wasted no time reminding everyone what he’s capable of, sending a massive gap from the A-frame to flat on his way to first place. Calvin Treml took second and Brandon Black claimed third. Brandon deserves a special mention here, having attended more Freestyle Now competitions than any other rider. That level of commitment to the scene doesn’t go unnoticed.

Clockwise from top left – Jacob Roughton hitting a tweaked turn down on the A-Frame. – Raidan Hyde getting sideways on the taco. – Thomas Hollingsworth absolutely going for it. – Jacon Flavelle, Scooter first place getter with his huge gap to flat. BMX brought serious energy to the day, especially in the Open division, which had good numbers and a deep field where any of the finalists could have taken the win. In the Beginner division, Cohen Haigh claimed first, Garnet Rock took second, and George Barnett secured third. The Barnett brothers were on fire in this division, making it very clear that BMX passion runs deep in their family. The Intermediate division saw Charlie Hill take the win, with Liam Rhodes in second and Thomas Hollingworth in third, all three putting down solid, confident runs. The Open BMX division was seriously impressive, with Jacob Roughton going for it and taking the win by just 2 points. It’s always good to see him pushing his riding, and his future is looking bright. Daniel Cowell rode extremely well to claim second place on his local park, and Archie Welten locked in third. Joshua O’Neil also turned heads with a barspin over the big gap, one of those moments that fires up both riders and spectators.

All up, it was a great day of competition, progression, and good times at Bibra Lake. Strong turnouts, big riding, and plenty of moments that remind us why these local events matter so much to the scene.
