Freestyle Now BMX Stunt Shows at the Karratha FeNaClNG Festival

Freestyle Now recently had the pleasure of delivering BMX stunt shows at the 2026 Karratha FeNaClNG Festival, one of the Pilbara’s most iconic and beloved community events. Shaun Jarvis, Luke Tooze, Andrew Ahumada and Cooper Wilson made up the Freestyle Now crew for the weekend, taking to the ramps across two days of action in front of fantastic Karratha crowds.

The superman seat grab is one of the most famous tricks in BMX  done by one of the most famous in BMX, Andrew Ahumada.

The FeNaClNG Festival has a history as rich as the region it calls home. Founded in 1972 by the Karratha Lion’s Club, the festival has been a cornerstone of family fun, community fundraising and engagement in the Pilbara for over fifty years. Even the name tells the story of the land it comes from. Fe for Iron, NaCl for Salt and NG for Natural Gas, three of the Pilbara’s richest minerals and largest resources trades, all wrapped up in one iconic festival name. It is a celebration that means something to the people of Karratha and that community spirit is felt from the moment you arrive.

Freestyle Now’s connection to the FeNaClNG Festival goes back a long way. We first performed there in 2006 and returned again in 2007, over twenty years ago now. We came back in 2024 and tackled show grounds soaked through from heavy rain in the days before, wet ramps, wet tyres and all. And in 2026 we were back again for our fourth visit. Not many acts can say they have been part of a festival’s story across two decades and we are proud to be one of them.

In 2026 the weather threw something different at us. No rain this time, just wind. And while that might not sound like much, wind and BMX jumping are not the best of friends. It adds an unpredictable element to every run and keeps riders on their toes in ways the crowd doesn’t always see. Shaun found that out the hard way on one particular run, coming within a whisker of going backwards head first into the ramp. The crowd’s collective gasp said everything. He pulled it back, kept it together and carried on like the seasoned professional he is. But it was close. Very close.

By day two the wind had settled and the riding opened up. The crowds across both days were fantastic, loud, engaged and every bit the community spirit the FeNaClNG Festival has been built on for over fifty years. Shaun, Luke, Andrew and Cooper fed off every single one of them and delivered the kind of shows that remind everyone why Freestyle Now keeps getting invited back. Four visits. Four great festivals. A big thanks to the Karratha FeNaClNG Festival for having us back.
